1. Introduction

RideLoop is a motorcycle route-planning, recording, navigation, and discovery application. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you when you use the RideLoop app and related services (the “Service”).

By using RideLoop, you agree to the practices described in this Policy. If you have questions, contact us at [email protected].

2. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly, information generated when you use RideLoop features (such as rides, routes, and location when permissions are granted), and limited technical and diagnostic information needed to operate and improve the Service.

The categories below describe the main types of information we handle. Not every feature collects every category, and some data remains on your device unless you sync or submit it to our servers.

3. Account Information

When you create or sign in to a RideLoop account, we collect your email address and authentication identifiers needed to operate your account.

If you sign in with Google, we may receive your display name and profile avatar from Google, along with a provider subject identifier associated with your Google account.

If you create a password-based account, we store a hashed and salted representation of your password. We also record email verification timestamps when verification applies.

4. Location Information

With your permission, RideLoop may collect precise location information to support route planning bias, map positioning, navigation, rerouting, and ride recording.

When you use ride recording or navigation recording and grant the required permissions, RideLoop may access location while the app is in the foreground and in the background so recording and navigation can continue as you ride.

You can revoke location permissions in your device settings. Doing so may disable recording, navigation, or related location-dependent features.

5. Ride and Route Data

When you plan, save, or record rides and routes, RideLoop may store ride and route information on our servers, including geometry and related metadata. Larger geometry may also be stored in related cloud object storage used by the Service.

Local recording points may also be kept on your device while a ride is in progress or pending sync. Preferences, feedback, and garage or motorcycle information associated with your account may likewise be stored as part of providing the Service.

6. Saved Places / Favorite Destinations

Saved places and recent destinations may be stored locally on your device. This data can include labels, coordinates, and, when applicable, Google Place IDs associated with a place you selected.

Locally stored places help you quickly reuse destinations and may not be fully mirrored to RideLoop servers depending on the feature and device state.

7. Device and Application Information

We may collect limited device and application information needed to operate the Service, such as app version or build identifiers, platform details, and similar technical signals used for compatibility, support, and reliability.

This information helps us diagnose issues, maintain the Service, and understand how RideLoop performs across devices.

8. Diagnostics / Crash Reporting

RideLoop uses Sentry for crash and operational diagnostics on mobile and backend systems. Diagnostic reporting is configured to limit personal identifiers (for example, default PII sending is disabled).

If you participate in beta diagnostic submissions, you may optionally send limited diagnostic information such as permission states, app or build details, and recent identifiers. These submissions are not intended to include full ride tracks.

9. How We Use Information

We use the information described in this Policy to:

Provide, operate, and maintain RideLoop features such as account authentication, route planning, navigation, ride recording, saved places, and related sync;

Communicate with you about your account, transactional messages, and support requests;

Monitor reliability, diagnose problems, and improve the Service;

Protect the security and integrity of RideLoop and our users; and

Comply with applicable law and enforce our terms when necessary.

10. Third-Party Services

RideLoop relies on third-party service providers to operate the app. Depending on the features you use and how the Service is configured, these may include:

Cloudflare (Workers, D1, and R2) for application backend and storage;

Google Places, Geocoding, and Maps Platform for destination search, place details, and related map functionality;

Google OAuth for sign-in;

Mapbox for map rendering;

Valhalla for primary routing;

BRouter for hybrid or alternate routing when that option is enabled;

OpenRouteService for legacy or fallback routing when configured;

Sentry for crash and operational diagnostics; and

Resend for transactional and audience email.

These providers process information as needed to deliver their services to RideLoop. Their own privacy practices apply to their processing.

11. Data Sharing

We share information with service providers that help us operate RideLoop, such as hosting, storage, maps, routing, diagnostics, and email delivery providers listed in this Policy.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect RideLoop or our users, or in connection with a business transaction such as a merger or asset transfer, where permitted.

We do not sell your personal information.

12. Data Retention

We retain account, ride, route, and related Service data as long as needed to provide the Service and for legitimate operational purposes such as security, support, backups, and legal compliance.

When data is no longer needed for these purposes, we take steps to delete or de-identify it in the ordinary course of operating the Service. Exact retention periods may vary by data type and operational requirements.

13. User Choices and Controls

You can update certain account details through the app where those controls are available, sign out to end your current session, delete your account in Settings, and manage device permissions that control access to location and similar capabilities.

You may also contact us to ask questions about your information. Some choices, such as turning off location access, may limit or disable related RideLoop features.

14. Location Permissions

Location access is controlled by your device operating system. RideLoop may request foreground location permission for planning, map positioning, navigation, and related in-app features.

Ride recording and navigation recording may also require background location permission so RideLoop can continue collecting location while you ride with the app not actively in the foreground.

You can change or revoke these permissions at any time in your device settings. Without the permissions a feature needs, that feature may not work as intended.

15. Account Deletion

Step-by-step instructions are on our Account Deletion page at https://getrideloop.com/account-deletion.

You can delete your RideLoop account in the app under Profile → Settings → Delete account. You will be asked to confirm by typing DELETE before deletion proceeds.

When you delete your account, we remove your account credentials and associated personal information from RideLoop systems, including database records for your account, related cloud-stored route objects tied to your account, and your contact from our marketing/audience email list when applicable.

Some information may remain briefly in operational backups or logs until those systems rotate in the ordinary course. Signing out ends your session but does not delete your account.

If you cannot access the app and need help deleting your account, contact [email protected] from the email address associated with your account.

16. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information we process. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

You can help protect your account by keeping your credentials confidential and using a strong, unique password where password sign-in applies.

17. Children's Privacy

RideLoop is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, contact [email protected] and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

18. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the Effective Date and Last Updated dates shown on this page.

Your continued use of RideLoop after an update becomes effective means you accept the revised Policy. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice through the Service or by email when appropriate.

19. Contact Information

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or RideLoop’s privacy practices, contact us at [email protected].
